Northeast Community News – October 30, 2017

Dear Friends and Family!
We had another wonderful day in the Lord, Sunday!  I’ve been sensing seismic activity in our church lately and I sensed another tremor this Sunday. While I can’t quite put my finger on it, I’ve begun interpreting this to mean God is preparing to move mightily in our church again and the Evil One simply can’t be happy! For example, I’ve witnessed hearts softening, the frequency and volume of your praise increasing, and passion for the lost growing, too!
Add to this the call by our new D.S. Kevin Hardy to begin praying Matthew 9:38 at 9:38 am and it seems clear God is about erupt in our midst! What is Matthew 9:38? Let’s read it in context:
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:35-38).
So are you ready for the harvest? Are you ready for God to break through and erupt in your midst? I believe the best days for our church are ahead of us! Please continue to pray! Amen!
We continue our Discipleship Essentials by looking at another essential belief: The Church! What do you think of when you think of the Church?  A dead institution? A place where a few do all the work? A place where people never move beyond talking? Well, in 1 Cor. 12:12-27 Paul describes the Church as a Divine living body made up of different parts mystically drawn together and abiding in Christ as He continues to reveal Himself through the Holy Spirit. The Church is far from dead! So, if you feel like the church died, you need to check your own pulse!
Paul describes in Ephesians 4:15-16 that Jesus is the head of the Church Body. To be the Head means The Church Body is under His direct authority. After describing how funny and foolish it is for different body parts to want a different assignment, Paul writes, “…God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be” (I Corinthians 12:18).
As part of The Church, we must humbly accept whatever role we are assigned to accomplish His greater purpose! Has Jesus called you to action? Then go! No need to wait! You’ve got a direct connection to the Head of the Church! When you receive your marching orders from the Holy Spirit, don’t compare yourself to others and feel superior or inferior! Simply yield to Christ’s leadership and move forward! We’re all depending on your obedience!
             Blessings, Pastor Dan

During a time of year when the pace of life becomes even more frenzied than usual, the season of Advent presents us with a unique opportunity. Long-Expected Jesus invites the people of God to spend four weeks slowing down, waiting patiently, and praying expectantly in anticipation of our coming Savior. The devotional begins with the first Sunday of Advent (December 3rd) and contains a short reflection for every day through Christmas, offering a meaningful experience for all ages. The meditations have been written by a variety of leaders, pastors, and storytellers.
