What a wonderful day in the Lord we had Sunday! It was election Sunday and the Holy Spirit led us to select God’s chosen servants for the next church year (June 01, 2017 – May 31, 2018). We begin the election process with a prayerful Spirit led nominations committee. Then, nominees are asked to prayerfully consider their nomination before letting their name ‘run’ on the ballot. The final step comes as Spirit led members vote as He leads them. Below, you’ll find the results!
Praise God for each of you elected to serve as His chosen servants! As God’s people, we will all follow you as we trust God has drawn near and spoken! To Him be the Glory! Amen? Amen!!
God’s message to us this week came from John 14:15-21 and was titled, “2/3rds is not Enough! Have you ever experienced a dying or dead car battery? While dead batteries are inconvenient, they usually give a telltale ‘sign’ when they prepare to die by turning the engine over just a little bit slower. Ignore this sign and you risk turning the key and hearing ‘click, click, click’ instead.
This can in some ways be the experience of Christians, too! But it doesn’t have to be that way! In John c. 13 Jesus tells the disciples He will be leaving and where He is going they cannot come (John 13:33). The next 2 chapters are filled with anxious filled questions and Jesus’ responses. The disciples feared a future without the power and presence of Jesus!
Without Jesus, they faced times of depleted courage, drained patience, overwhelming stress, and they were already feeling a sense of looming abandonment. But, Jesus knew their fears and knew what they needed! Yes, they needed a relationship with their heavenly Father! Yes, they needed a relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! (see John 14:6). But, 2/3rds of God was not enough! Jesus knew they needed the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit!
Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth” (Jn 14:15-17a).
Like the first disciples, life can be a constant source of drain on your spiritual batteries. We also face times of depleted courage, drained patience, overwhelming stress and abandonment. But, Jesus knows our needs, too! Stop trying to navigate through life exhausted trying to accomplish great things for God in your own power! Receive the fullness and power of the Holy Spirit!
How? First, by asking the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where you’re not yet yielded. Have you yielded your past, present, and your future? Second, obey Jesus’ commands! Is Jesus Lord of All? Finally, ask God to send the fullness of the Holy Spirit with Pentecostal power to cleanse and sanctify you entirely. Already sanctified? Perhaps it’s time to ask him for a fresh infilling of His power, wisdom, peace, and joy. 2/3rds is not enough! When you’re filled with Him you’ll discover spiritual power you’ve never known before! May it be so!
Blessings, Pastor Dan

GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2017 WORK & WITNESS PROJECT:
I'm writing to invite you and any members of your church to be a part of the largest Nazarene Work & Witness project called, One Heart - Many Hands Indianapolis 2017! This week-long service project will take place June 18-23. In a recent conversation with Dr. David Downs, the District Superintendent of the West Texas District, it came to my attention that many pastors are under the impression that One Heart - Many Hands (OHMH) projects are just for youth groups. In actuality, OHMH is a Work & Witness project geared for the entire church to participate in. Many churches bring multi generational groups who work on the project and learn from each other. In past General assembly years we have averaged 2000 Nazarenes serving together with OHMH to leave the fingerprints of God all over the General Assembly host city. I'm sure you receive hundreds of emails each year encouraging you and your church to be a part of something… OHMH is a unique Work & Witness project that not only affords your group the opportunity to be involved in missions together but also to experience the Global Church of the Nazarene in a very visible and tangible way as team members participate in the General Assembly services. Would you prayerfully consider encouraging your church to take advantage of this opportunity to serve alongside thousands of Nazarenes this summer in Indianapolis? For more information about this service project please contact our office at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our website at www.oneheartmanyhands.com. Thank you, George Sisler
